If you’ve got a dog and you’re looking for some fun, dog-friendly places to visit, check out these great walks in Pembrokeshire.

Pembrokeshire is a beautiful part of Wales that’s full of history and natural beauty. There are lots of things to see and do there—including some great dog-friendly walks!

Here are some of our favorites:

The beach at St Brides Bay is perfect for a day at the seaside. This beach has a lovely long sandbar, so your pup can run around while you catch some rays.

The coast path between Angle and Stackpole can be as short or long as you like—it’s up to you! The path follows the coastline all the way from Angle down to Stackpole, so it’s easy to find a section that suits your time constraints. You’ll pass through several little fishing villages on the way, which are great places to grab lunch or stop for ice cream if they look interesting (and they almost always do).

Advice on pet friendly holidays in Pembrokeshire

It may sound obvious but make sure you take enough pet food with you and dog toys before you leave. And if you have pets and children, then you should consider writing a list. You will be surprised how much there is to think about! A checklist will allow you to tick off the items before you go on your pet friendly holiday in Pembrokeshire and also when you are ready to pack up and come home. Something else worth mentioning…don’t just think about your pet(s)! Also, consider the rest of your family! Whilst this may sound like a strange thing to say, we suggest you write down what you want from your holiday and it will help you find the perfect holiday for your family!

Tips on pet friendly accommodation in Pembrokeshire

If you’re looking for tips before booking pet friendly accommodation, we’ve added some tips to help you when searching for pet friendly holidays in Pembrokeshire. Depending on how much your little companion likes to be transported in a vehicle, you may prefer to consider somewhere that is close enough to the places you’ll be visiting regularly. This will mean less time spent on moving transport, benefiting from less stress and fewer restrictions. Something else to consider is sleeping arrangements. If your little one has trouble settling, it might be worth taking their bed with you also. Whilst this may sound extreme, any creature comforts that you have in your back pocket will help this holiday go as smoothly as possible!

Other things to bear in mind on your pet friendly holiday in Pembrokeshire

Be careful in hot weather. To explain a few things, you should never leave dogs in hot cars, conservatories, or outbuildings on a warm day. Even if only for a short period of time! As you can imagine, even when it’s only 22°C outside, temperatures can quickly rise to nearly 50°C in some of these environments. This can be fatal for your pet. It’s also recommended that you use pet-safe sun cream on exposed parts of your pet’s skin. Such as the tips of their ears and nose (to avoid any sunburn). If you’re unsure which is the right type of product to use, we strongly recommend that you ask your vet. Whilst out and about we also recommend that you have fresh drinking water and a bowl ready to keep them hydrated and cool. And lastly don’t take your dog out when the ground is hot!

advantages of remote pet friendly holidays in Pembrokeshire

Remote holidays vs going our of season

Pembrokeshire is a great place to visit over the holidays. There are also quite a few places where you can enjoy the outdoors without having to fight crowds which is great for pets. Some dogs don’t mind crowds but if yours is a little bit nervous or shy, the last place you want to be is somewhere too busy! For pet owners, this can often mean picking pet friendly accommodation in the most remote parts of Pembrokeshire. The advantage of this idea is that you can go away all year round. Or alternatively, you can choose to go on a pet friendly holiday in Pembrokeshire slightly out of season. This should mean that you bump into fewer people and therefore making it a bit easier for more nervous dogs who don’t like crowds. The advantage of this idea is that it’s often cheaper to go away out of season!
